Just before Colombia’s Caribbean coastline ends and that of Panama begins, you will find the idyllic small beach towns of Capurgana and Sapzurro in the Choco department. Well off-the-beaten-track, these two least-visited highlights have plenty to offer the exploratory traveler. Think of adventurous jungle hikes which bring you past a beautiful hand-built treehouse with plentiful art, a natural swimming pool and hammocks overlooking the Caribbean sea, but also great diving, ultimate beach chilling, fresh fish and tasty coconuts.

If their names are not cute enough on their own, then the laid-back atmosphere and locals in these hidden gems surely are. You can easily spend a few days here and unwind from the hustle and bustle of our demanding society. The air you breath here is pretty pure and clean, as there are no cars to be found. Especially Sapzurro is very tranquil. The bay is also one of Colombia’s favorite dive and snorkel spots.
