Casanare is a department in the central eastern region of Colombia. To visit the area, you will either fly from Bogotá to its capital Yopal, or we can arrange private land transport from (as well as to) the provinces of Boyacá (to the north) and Meta (to the south) – both take about seven hours. Casanare can be very well combined with beautiful places such as Villa de Leyva in Boyacá.
From Yopal, it is about a 5 to 6-hour drive in a 4×4 to the typical llanero Ecolodge Juan Solito from where you will discover the real cowboy life and go on safari.
El Alcaraván airport in Yopal is located on the southeast side of the city. It will take a 15-minute taxi ride to get to the centre of town.
During the rainy season (May through November) it can be very difficult to reach the ecolodges, even with a 4×4 jeep. In that case we sometimes use water transport to bring you to the ecolodge.
